Personal Statement

I’m a firm believer that we are not meant to do life alone. Whether you’re adjusting to parenthood, grieving a loss, or feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or OCD—it’s my honor to provide you with space to simply be human. I don’t hold the belief that it’s my job to fix your problems. Even if it were, I never could—because I am not the expert on your life. You are.

And while I have many valuable tools and perspectives to offer, I believe the most meaningful thing I can give you is space. Space to think. Space to express your thoughts. Space to sit with your feelings and actually feel them. It is in this kind of space that I believe transformative healing happens—where you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and what you need, of which burdens you can lay down, and which tools and resources you can pick up.

In this space, I offer evidence-based therapy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, The Art of Holding, and Exposure and Response Prevention. It’s hard when your thoughts feel scary or when life changes bring more fear than joy. You don’t have to pretend you’re okay or figure it out alone. Whatever you’re navigating, I can help you develop skills to reduce distress, reconnect with yourself, and feel more grounded and whole.

Experience

Before pursuing therapy, I worked full-time in ministry, serving children, teens, young adults, parents, and grandparents. While my official roles were administrative, I often mentored teens and young adults, which ultimately pointed me toward a career in counseling.

During graduate school, I interned at the YWCA in Kalamazoo, working alongside therapists to support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. I also completed an internship at the Battle Creek Veterans Administration Medical Center, where I assisted veterans in end-of-life planning and helped ensure they had access to services that supported their quality of life.

As a therapist, much of my focus is on supporting women through pregnancy and the postpartum period. Being a mother myself, I’m passionate about walking alongside women during these life transitions. I also work extensively with clients managing OCD, anxiety, past trauma, and other major life transitions.
